With increased film and television production activity in Northern Ontario comes new career paths. In 2023, CION and partners are giving you the chance to find consistent and rewarding work in the growing motion picture industry that exists in your backyard.

To meet the next wave of movies and TV shows that find their footing on Northern soil, Cultural Industries Ontario North (CION), with the generous help of REEL CANADA, IASTE 634 & 411, DGC Ontario, and William F. White International Inc., is hosting 9 Film Crew Training Sessions across Northern Ontario in 2023.
A steady stream of homegrown entertainment trickling through various streaming services caused by movies and TV shows shot in the North is a nice refresher, but the rising tides of production activity bring more to the surface: job opportunities, and plenty of them.
CION's Film Crew Training Sessions are designed get you working in the industry and help increase regional film crew numbers across Greater Sudbury, North Bay, and Sault Ste. Marie, with 3 sessions occurring in each municipality across a 3-week period:

These in-person training sessions occur from Monday to Friday, 9:00 am (EST) to 5:00 pm (EST) and will equip participants with the skills required to walk on a TV or movie set as an entry-level film crew for the following roles/departments:
Production Assistant (PA)
Grip/Electric
Art Department
A total of 25 participants will be accepted for each training session. Successful applicants will be contacted by CION with additional details and venue information.
You do NOT need prior experience working in the motion picture industry to apply for these sessions. You should, however, show significant interest in furthering your career in Northern Ontario's film and television production industry in order to be eligible for CION's Film Crew Training.
Once you've completed the training, CION will show you how to access and use the Crew Database to let visiting producers know exactly who to call when they bring their motion picture projects to a city near you.
