The provincial government of Ontario has announced the launch of new and improved Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation (NOHFC) funding program.
Notably, the Cultural Supports Program promotes and showcases Northern Ontario’s culture, geography, and talent through the production of films and television series and by supporting events such as conferences and festivals that elevate the profile of communities.
The Film and Television Stream is designed to increase film and television industry jobs and investment and to increase quality, original film and television productions produced in Northern Ontario, while showcasing its culture, geography, stories, and talent.
NOHFC funding is based on the film or television project’s total level of spending in Northern Ontario. NOHFC provides assistance in the form of a conditional contribution of up to 50% of eligible costs to a maximum capped on a tiered basis according to the total northern spend:
- Productions with a total budget of up to $5 million can potentially receive up to $500,000 of support.
- Productions with a total budget between $5 million - $10 million can potentially receive up to $1 million of support.
- Productions with a total budget of $10 million and above can potentially receive up to $2 million of support.
The NOHFC holds four application intake rounds during the year for the Film and Television Stream. Visit www.nohfc.ca for more information.
