Cultural Industries Ontario North (CION) is proud to announce that applications are open for the Northern Ontario Film & TV Project Pitch Exchange -- a revamped version of the previous 'FAM Tours' program helping producers create new content in Northern Ontario.
Designed to catalyse film and television production activity across the region, the Project Pitch Exchange connects producers with representatives of Northern Ontario's six major production centres to identify creative solutions to project-specific needs and discover lesser-known locations fit for the screen.
Film and television producers with projects expected to enter principal photography within a 24-month window are encouraged to participate in this three-staged program by submitting a 'Project Asset Package' via email to CION's Film Sector Development Officer, Devin Mahesh, on a year-round basis.
The Northern Ontario Film & TV Project Pitch Exchange includes 4 intake rounds (February, May, August, and November) to allocate specific time periods when follow-up consultations with successful applicants can take place.
Step 1: The Package
Before we connect with you the right person, let us know what your project is all about. Get the ball rolling and enter the Project Pitch Exchange by providing the following documents:
- Producer Overview (available for download here)
- Project Treatment
- Look Book and/or Script
- List of Priority Locations
- List of Preferred Northern Ontario Muncipalities
If available, additional supporting materials that will be considered in application assessment can include:
- Project Budget
- Talent Attached to Project
- Broadcaster/Distribution Attached to Project
All Project Asset Packages deemed eligible by CION will be shared with municipal representatives across Northern Ontario, who will prepare their custom pitch presentations for Stage Two of the program.
Stage Two: The Pitch
Following the weeks of a respective intake round, CION will organize and facilitate virtual meetings between eligible producers and select municipal representatives, who will answer regional-specific questions and showcase the amenities, incentives, and locations available in the North.
Each meeting will include a custom destination pitch presentation and discussion period, allowing you the opportunity to familiarize yourself with Northern Ontario's production landscape. Producers whose interest in Northern Ontario is intensified following Stage Two will be considered for Stage Three of the Project Pitch Exchange.
Stage Three: The Discovery
CION will determine, on a case-by-case basis, which projects will be invited to join in-person locations tours of the Northern Ontario municipality of their choice. Participation in Stage Three of the program offers some travel, accommodations, and locations scouting costs supported or facilitated by CION and its partners.
