MFM is now CION
For Immediate Release
Since its inception in 2001, Music and Film in Motion has championed the cultural industries of Northern Ontario. In 2012, Music and Film in Motion officially became the public facing subsidiary of Cultural Industry Ontario’s North (CION), as an effort to consolidate the efforts of multiple organizations took off.
Today, CION officially takes over as the dominant cultural industry not-for-profit in Northern Ontario, bringing together the North under one organizational name. CION’s goal is to unite the North in the promotion of its unique cultural products—from local, regional music to film and television productions.
Coinciding with this formalization of its organizational name change and public-facing branding, CION is launching a new digital strategy that includes several key initiatives to better promote our music, and attract film and television productions. A new website, cutting-edge tools for producers, improved crew and music databases lead its innovations, with better representation for partner communities across the North.
While the MFM name is sunsetting, the legacy of ardent promotion and enthusiastic endorsement of the North’s culture is wholeheartedly assumed by CION and stakeholders; community members and citizens of the North should expect the execution of its core mission to only improve from here.
