This edition of CION's Location Scout Training is made possible through a joint partnership between CION, FedNor, REEL Canada, and Ontario Creates, and is facilitated by course instructor and Location Manager Craig Rose. The course is being offered both in-person and online to allow individuals from across Northern Ontario access to training sessions hosted in Sudbury, Ontario.
The course curriculum includes both theoretical learning and practical application - participants will be tasked with drawing upon class teachings to complete field assignments. Individuals who successfully complete the required course content and field assignments are eligible to receive a stipend for their efforts.
It is worth noting that the training sessions offered by CION do not certify participants as film crew. Rather, the course material prepares participants for new roles - equipping them with the necessary skills to be successful when film crew opportunities arise.
