Locations, locations, locations!

Parry Sound is located 200km from Toronto, and is quickly accessible by road, rail or air. We are conveniently situated along Highway 400, a major transportation route which has direct access to Toronto in around two hours. Parry Sound is in the heart of Ontario’s “Cottage Country”, bordering the famous vacation destination of Muskoka. Parry Sound is also the southernmost municipality eligible for the northern-Ontario specific funding (e.g. NOHFC).

Rugged Landscapes

Parry Sound is situated within the Georgian Bay Biosphere, which encompasses the eastern coast of Georgian Bay and stretches approximately 175 kilometres from the Severn River to the French River. This part of Lake Huron contains the largest collection of freshwater islands in the world, known locally as “the 30,000 Islands”. The outstanding natural beauty of the area also includes inland lakes, rivers, forests and stunning rock outcrops of pure Canadian Shield.

Small-town Charm

Parry Sound is located on traditional lands of the Anishinaabek (Ojibwe, Pottowattami and Odawa) people. The town, established in 1857, was named by Captain Henry Bayfield after Sir William Edward Parry, the famous Arctic Explorer. In 1907 the Canadian Pacific Railway trestle bridge was completed. At over 1,695 feet and standing at a height of 105 feet above the mouth of the Seguin River, is the longest of its kind in Ontario. The town features urban landscapes, historical buildings (commercial, institutional and residential) and an Ontario small-town charm that makes it a versatile location for any project.
