Job Title: Music Sector Support Intern
Reports to: Associate Executive Director, Lead of Music Sector Development
Salary: $40,000
This position is open to candidates that:

Are new entrants into the work force, are transitioning to a new career, or the unemployed or underemployed who are entering a new field;

Have not previously participated in a NOHFC-funded internship;

Are at least 18 years of age; and
-
Reside, and be legally entitled to work, in Canada.
1. PURPOSE OF THE JOB
Cultural Industries Ontario North (CION) and its musician-driven programs - which are administered by the Lead of Music Sector Development - provide artists in Northern Ontario with the knowledge transfer necessary to work toward creating, enhancing, and cementing viable career paths within Canada's music industry. The Music Sector Support Intern will assist the Lead in expanding outreach and development opportunities to regional musicians to support their career development.
2. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Support the Lead of Music Sector Development in facilitating project consultations with regional musicians; meeting with consults to create strategies for the musicians and impart knowledge to develop their careers.
Support the creation of music resource documents that both promote Northern Ontario's music industry while providing easily accessible information related to skills development for regional musicians.
Support the Lead of Music Sector Development in event logistics planning for regional music industry events facilitated by CION.
Attend meetings with key music industry stakeholders and support the Lead of Music Sector Development through recording goals and action items set during these meetings.
Support the tracking of measures of success for all music programming (professional development sessions, consultations, mentorships, showcases etc.)
3. INTERACTION WITH PATRONS AND PUBLIC
The Music Sector Support Intern will be required to interact internally with the CION and Cinefest Sudbury teams, and occasionally with members of the public and industry stakeholders through duties related to facilitating CION’s music programming.
4. PHYSICAL DEMANDS
There are no day-to-day physical demands associated with the Music Sector Support Intern position. From time to time, there will be setup related to various activities that CION is involved in (including music showcases) that will require the Music Industry Program Support Intern’s attention.
5. WORKING CONDITIONS AND ENVIRONMENT
In general, CION operates on a 35-hour work week, 9 AM to 5 PM from Monday to Friday (with an hour for lunch). Due to the dictates of CION’s activities, the Music Sector Support Intern can expect to occasionally work unusual hours, mainly evenings and weekends.
6. KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED
The Music Sector Support Intern is required to demonstrate the following abilities/knowledge base:

Experience with event planning, specifically within the music industry;

Experience with spreadsheet management to track metrics of success;
-
Previous experience working in the music production industry will be considered an asset;

The ability to maintain an organized and efficient work environment;
-
Outstanding organization and time management skills;
-
The ability to multi-task effectively;
-
Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office; especially Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint;
-
Excellent oral and written communication skills;
-
Excellent interpersonal skills;
-
A high level of initiative and attention to detail.
