ABOUT

M.J. (Marc) Stewart has been playing guitar for over 50 years! That's half a century! So he knows a thing or two about guitars and Rock and Roll. Born and raised in Sudbury, the 'Nickel City' in Northern Ontario, M.J. was exposed to countless genres of music growing up but it's his exposure to rock in the 60's, 70's and 80's that left an indelible mark on his psyche. Flooded with music from the U.S. and the U.K. and the rest of the world, he developed a great affinity for Canadian Rock music: Rush, April Wine, Saga, Bryan Adams, Loverboy, Chilliwack, Bachman-Turner Overdrive, Colin James... What a blending potpourri of musical flavours! Rock radio was awesome growing up! M.J. also had early roots performing as a francophone artist all over Northern Ontario and has played a number of festival staples such as Northern Lights Festival Boreal, La Nuit Sur L'Etang, and Le Festival de Rock du Quebec. During a 10 year hiatus from the music industry, M.J. sought out other musical genres and fell in love with the blues! Hard! Studied it...Chewed on it...jammed with it until his fingers bled...From traditonal to contemporary, but what really touched a nerve were the masters like Buddy Guy, Otis Rush, Eric Clapton, Warren Haynes, Derek Trucks, Stevie Ray Vaughan, The Allman Brothers Band and Joe Bonamassa. Incorporating that flavour into his playing was the missing ingredient. M.J.'s current releases feature his talents as a singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist musician, and producer and various musical blends and he looks forward to releasing more music in the very near future. Toe-tapping foot-stomping guitar grinding blues driven rock and roll!
