Sudbury, April 2016
Come celebrate with us!
Sudbury earthdancers are proud to be turning 25 this year and would like to invite you to celebrate this
milestone on April 15th, 16th, 22nd, and 23rd at Le Théâtre du Nouvel-Ontario (TNO).
The earthdancers can hardly believe they are celebrating their 25th anniversary, and that is
certainly not the only thing they are excited about. 2016 is set to be the best performance yet,
with several brilliant guest artists, a very special programme, and the goal of donating $10 000
divided equally between Friends of the Earth, the Junction Creek Stewardship Committee, and
For those of you who are unfamiliar with the work of earthdancers, they are a modern dance
company run by students dedicated to putting on a benefit performance each year and donating
the full purchase price of ticket sales to their beneficiaries.
This year’s guest artists include Heidi Strauss, cofounder of earthdancers and winner of the
prestigious Dora Mavor Moore Award, Sunshine Horvath (Dixon), also a cofounder of
earthdancers and Company Blonde Dance Projects in Toronto, Ontario. And finally, Jenny
Hazleton, a professor of Acting and Mime at Laurentian University where she is also a director,
designer, puppeteer, playwright, and theatre technician.
The 2016 programme also consists of choreography by some impressive names in dance:
Denise Vitali, Lauren Foy, Meghan Corcoran, Emily Wood, and the earthdancers themselves.
2016 is a very special year for the earthdancers and they could not be happier to celebrate it
with so many amazing people. If you have not yet been to an earthdancers performance, this is
the year to go! You can catch some brand new pieces from our choreographers and even some
remounts of previous year’s classics.
“Since our youth of today are the leaders of tomorrow, Sudbury should be proud of it’s talented
